Over the past few days I’ve heard so many comments about my health. I don’t know what it is about the holidays but something about this time of year makes everyone all of a sudden have suggestions on how I should be spending my free time, how fast my recovery is going, what I should be doing differently etc etc… It got me thinking back to things I use to think about chronic illness, before being sick myself. I used to think certain foods could cure everything, and that pain was only temporary. I now realize how naive and ignorant this was, but it also makes me realize that these suggestions likely aren’t coming from a place of hurtfulness, but instead a place of misunderstanding as to the realities of living with chronic Lyme (or any chronic illness for that matter.)
I remembered in thinking about all of this a Youtube video I had watched a while ago that I think perfectly summed up my experience, and I wanted to share it in the hopes of spreading awareness.
