Today I picked up the first book I’ll be reading (and blogging about) in 2018 – You Do You by Sarah Knight. Controversially, I’ve never read anything else by her, and to be honest I haven’t had that much interest in her other books despite their immense popularity. But something about this title struck a chord and I think it perfectly depicts just how I want to kick off 2018.
Here’s the blurb from the back in case you’re interested:
Being yourself should be easy – yet many of us struggle to live on other people’s terms instead of our own. Rather than feeling large and in charge, we feel little and belittled…It’s time to start putting your happiness first – and stop letting other people tell you what to do, how to do it, or why it can’t be done. And don’t panic! You can do it without losing friends and alienating people.
I think there are two types of people in the world; people who are naturally assertive and won’t get what the big deal is about this book, and those of us that aren’t so assertive and tend to get walked all over. I’ve noticed this especially since being ill, it’s like I’m constantly apologizing for things that I’m doing to ultimately make myself feel better. I’ve made some pretty big strides towards fixing this this year, but it’s still something I have to work on every single day.
I’m about to hop in a Lush bath and then dive into this. Have I mentioned how much I love self care?
I also have a question for the blog world while we’re at it. I’m considering investing in an Ipad pro (mainly for the apple pen.) I’m thinking it would be great for photo editing and blog writing on the go (or if we’re being truthful, from my bed lol.) I’m a huge lover of Apple products but find it hard to blog from anywhere other than my Imac so far. Has anyone had any experience blogging from the Ipad pro, and if so any thoughts?
